2008 Club Calendar
The 2008 Club Calendar has been completely re-worked. As has been the case in the past, there are calendars for SOCIAL, SAILING, AUXILIARY, JUNIORS and JR SAILING, however there is now an ALL EVENTS calendar that let's one see all the events across each event category in a single calendar view. Each of the calendars has been assigned a color so that you get some visual cues as to an event's category. I have made this ALL EVENTS calendar the default view.
Proceed to the new calendar, or read below first for some helpful information.
Some helpful comments:
(1) You can change to another calendar by selecting it from the "Select Calendar" droplist, and then pressing the "Update View" button in the upper right. Note that if you do not press the "Update View" button, the system will not process your request to change to a different calendar.
(2) A single left mouse click will open an event into another window. This event window will be filled with all the details about a given event. Start time, end time, cost, location, notice of race, etc. This will only be informative if the event chair gets me the information.
(3) If you have an event window open, you can actually export out the event for adding to your personal organizer, e.g. MS Outlook. Mobile device users should really appreciate this feature as it works great.
(4) Note that I have put Saturday and Sunday as the last days of the week visually. Many of us are weekend warriors and this presents all weekend items visually next to each other for better coordination. Give it a few weeks as I am betting you will come to appreciate this presentation.
(5) You can select the Start Month and No. of Months to Show according to your particular needs.
(6) Junior, Jr Sailing, Auxiliary and Sailing events that are social events open to the membership, e.g. the JO BBQ or the Auxiliary Covered Dish Supper, were categorized as SOCIAL events.
(7) After we reach some sort of comfort level, an administrator will be assigned to each calendar and will be responsible for maintaining the event information. For example, the Ladies Auxiliary President would become the administrator for the AUXILIARY calendar. I will obviously go through training sessions for those who accept the admin responsibility.
Other than that, enjoy and browse to your heart's content (proceed to the new calendar). Constructive criticism always welcomed as it will enhance the value for everyone, nit-picking will be frowned upon as this has been a significant effort. J
